AND
CONDITIONS
SERVICE
The
legal requirement for learner drivers is that you must
be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20.5
metres(67 feet). For Potential Driving Instructors (PDI)
the required distance is dependant upon the vehicle
registration plate:
a. 79mm in height and 50mm wide at a distance of 26.5m
b. 79mm in height and 57mm wide at a distance of 27.5m
On
our first session I will check your eyesight and that
your licence is correct and you have signed it. Lessons
will start and finish at the pre-arranged place when
the appointment is booked. Any changes you make may
incur additional costs or reduced lesson time. Lessons
are normally of 2 hour duration, but longer or shorter
periods can be arranged. On the day of your driving
test or Parts 2 or 3 of the PDI exams, you will be charged
for the use of the car. This fee usually covers 2 hours,
but may vary due to the locality and distance involved.
In the event of your test being cancelled by the DSA,
you may apply to them for a refund of the cost of the
lesson.
CANCELLATION
If
you wish to cancel a lesson, this should be done in
advance of your appointment. A notification time limit
of 48 hour must be given. Failure to give adequate notice
will result in you being charged for the lost lesson.
If you frequently cancel your lessons, then I reserve
the right to remove you from my books.
COSTS
The
cost of lessons and or training will be agreed prior
to the commencement of any training. Discounts may be
available for block bookings of driving lessons or payment
in full for the PDI course; however, any cancellation
of these by you may incur administrative costs which
will be charged to you. Payment must be made at the
start of each driving lesson or training session (if
applicable). Increases in the price of lessons or training
session will be notified well in advance.
PAYING
BY CHEQUE
You
may pay for your lessons and or training by cheque,
providing it is accompanied by a valid banker’s
card. You may be asked to pay in advance of your appointment
with sufficient time allowed for the cheque to clear.
EFFECTS
OF DRINK AND DRUGS
If
I suspect you are under the influence of drink or drugs
you will be refused permission to drive and you will
be charged for your session.
DRIVING
TESTS
I
will advise you when you are ready to apply for both
your theory and practical tests. IMPORTANT: When I decide
you should apply for your practical test, it will be
on the strict understanding that you should continue
with your lessons right up to the date of your test.
Failure to do so may result in you failing to reach
the required standard. In this event, I reserve the
right to refuse the use of the school car for your test.
This decision will be at my discretion and have to be
made at short notice, even as late as the pre-test lesson.
PDI
PART 2 and 3 TESTS
I
will advise you when you are ready to take Part 2 and
3 test. You can disregard my advice at anytime but please
remember that this decision may result in you failing
to reach the required standard. In this event, I reserve
the right to refuse the use of the school car for your
test. This decision will be at my discretion and have
to be made at short notice, even as late as the pre-test
lesson.
INSTRUCTOR’S
CODE OF CONDUCT
I
have been highly trained and have passed the strict
examinations of the Driving Standards Agency including
the ORDIT test. Also, instructor standards are checked
periodically by the Agency. At no time should there
be any form of personal contact between the Instructor
and student, other than a formal greeting or in cases
of emergency, where I have to take action to prevent
an accident I will always act in a professional manner,
and provide a well cared for and highly maintained vehicle.
Whilst every effort will be made to keep good time,
road and traffic conditions, bad weather or mechanical
problems may cause unavoidable delays in my schedule.
I will try to make up any lost time to you, or arrange
another session as soon as possible and at your convenience.
COMPLAINTS
If
you are not entirely satisfied with the service I have
provided, please tell me. I am in the best position
to rectify any problems. If after you have done this
and you are still unhappy, you can then write to the
